Get ready for a blast from the past! Pan Am is making a comeback, sort of. A US travel agency is bringing the iconic airline brand back to life for a quick trip across the Atlantic in 2025. They’re using a Boeing 757 with just 50 business class seats to recreate some of Pan Am’s classic routes, but with a modern twist.
Remember Pan Am? It was the cream of the crop when it came to international air travel back in the day. Their famous ‘Clipper’ flying boats were the height of luxury for long-distance flights. Later on, Pan Am led the way into the jet age, introducing cool new planes like the Boeing 707 and the massive 747 ‘jumbo jet’.
Sadly, Pan Am couldn’t keep up with the competition and went bankrupt in 1991. A few people tried to bring it back, but no luck. Now, a company called Centurion Travel has gotten permission to use the Pan Am name and logo. They’re offering a two-week trip from June 27 to July 9, 2025, hitting cities on both sides of the Atlantic. It’s not cheap though – tickets are $65,500 for one person, but that includes pretty much everything.
The trip starts in New York and heads to Bermuda, just like the old Pan Am Clippers did. Then it’s off to Lisbon, Portugal, and Marseille, France. After that, they’ll pop over to London, which was a big deal for Pan Am back in the day. Fun fact: London was the first place a Pan Am Boeing 747 flew to when the airline started using them in 1970.
Before heading back to New York, they’ll make one last stop in Foynes, on the west coast of Ireland. This place was a regular pit stop for Pan Am’s flying boats when they crossed the Atlantic from the US. The fancy 757 will land back in New York on July 9, 2025, wrapping up this nostalgic adventure.
Craig Carter, who’s in charge of the company that owns the rights to the old Pan Am logo and brand, says they want to bring back the good old days of travel. They’re aiming to make flying feel special again, not just a way to get from A to B. It’s all about bringing back the glamour and excitement of air travel.
Centurion Travel hasn’t said where they’re getting the Boeing 757-200 for this trip. They also haven’t mentioned if the plane will have any Pan Am colors or logos on it. It’s kind of funny that they’re using a 757, because Pan Am never actually flew this type of plane when it was in business.
Some people think that a US charter airline called New Pacific Airlines might be the one flying the plane. They have three 757-200s, which would be perfect for this trip. But so far, neither Centurion nor the airline has confirmed this. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
