In response to recent serious accidents, the EUROCONTROL Provisional Council (PC) has decided to take action. They are focusing on both new initiatives and enhancing existing programs. The PC has asked the Director General, along with the Safety Regulation Commission, to form a High Level European Action Group for ATM Safety (AGAS). This group aims to pinpoint key actions that can improve air traffic management (ATM) safety throughout the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) area.
Experts in safety from various states, Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs), international organizations, associations, and unions have come together. Their collaboration has led to the development of several practical actions designed to boost safety measures. These actions have been incorporated into a European Strategic Safety Action Plan (SSAP), highlighting a unified effort to enhance ATM safety across Europe.
