The Prestige Business Class Cabin
Upon boarding the Korean Airlines 777-300ER, the business class cabin immediately stands out. Known as the ‘Prestige Suite,’ this cabin features the B/E Aerospace Apex seat, a product that’s often regarded as one of the best in its class. The layout of the business class is staggered, offering a 2-2-2 configuration. This gives passengers direct aisle access from all seats, enhancing privacy and convenience.
Though this flight didn’t sell first class seats, the prestige of the business class section was evident. Situated behind the first-class cabin, the business class cabin feels exclusive and comfortable. The seats are upholstered in dark gray, with turquoise accents adding a modern, refined touch.
The mini-cabin, where I sat, was particularly appealing. With just a single row of seats, it offered a quiet, intimate environment for those seeking a peaceful flight. The space was generous, with three large windows giving an almost panoramic view, and a small ottoman for resting your feet. Though there was no dedicated footwell, the open space provided ample legroom and comfort. However, I couldn’t help but feel that the Super Diamond reverse herringbone seat would have offered a better overall experience for more personal space.

First Impressions of the Seat
The Prestige Suite’s seating offers an elevated business class experience, providing a comfortable and luxurious environment for passengers. While the seat does lack significant storage, its design is still well-suited for long-haul comfort. The reclining function allows the seat to fully transform into a bed, with a decent level of privacy due to the staggered arrangement. The leg space is ample, and the large seatback screen serves as the entertainment hub.
The ottoman, though small, adds a touch of elegance and functionality. It provides enough room for passengers to stretch their legs and makes the overall seating arrangement feel much more open. This is a stark contrast to other business class designs, which often feature constricting footwells.
The only downside is the lack of storage. While there is a small compartment for personal items, passengers may find it inconvenient to store larger belongings or accessories during the flight.
Dining Experience
Meal service is a crucial part of any premium flight, and Korean Airlines does not disappoint. On this particular flight, I had pre-ordered a Korean dish, expecting a high standard of in-flight dining. The menu featured a variety of options, including both Western and Korean dishes. I opted for stir-fried octopus in a hot spicy sauce, a choice that would hopefully showcase the authenticity of Korean cuisine.
Unfortunately, the dish fell short of expectations. While the flavors were bold and spicy, the octopus was chewy and rubbery, which detracted from the overall taste. The soup was overly salty, which I found difficult to enjoy. Despite this, the flight attendants were incredibly attentive, offering to bring me an alternative dish from the menu. However, after enjoying a hearty meal in the first-class lounge prior to boarding, I wasn’t particularly hungry, and I declined the offer for a second meal.
While the Korean dish wasn’t to my liking, the Western menu options were likely a safer bet, and I would recommend opting for these if you’re unsure about the Korean options. Regardless, the service remained exceptional throughout, with the crew being attentive and offering assistance whenever needed.
In-Flight Entertainment and Wi-Fi
The Korean Airlines 777-300ER offers a range of entertainment options designed to keep passengers engaged during the flight. A large, high-definition screen provides access to a variety of movies, TV shows, and music. During my flight, I watched Clint Eastwood’s ‘Juror #2,’ a captivating movie that was a perfect companion for the journey.
Additionally, Wi-Fi is available onboard, which is crucial for business travelers who need to stay connected during the flight. The Wi-Fi pass costs 11.95 USD for full access, or passengers can opt for a messaging pass at 4.95 USD for limited communication. I found it convenient for checking emails and browsing the internet, though I mainly enjoyed using it for entertainment during the flight.
Overall, the entertainment system provided an excellent selection of content, and the Wi-Fi service was stable and sufficient for basic online activities.
Service and Crew
Service onboard the Korean Airlines 777-300ER was impeccable. The flight attendants were warm, attentive, and professional, offering everything from additional meal options to beverage refills and support with entertainment choices. They made a real effort to ensure that passengers were comfortable and satisfied with their flight experience.
Despite the disappointing meal, the crew’s attentiveness and genuine hospitality made up for it. It’s clear that Korean Airlines places a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction, ensuring a smooth, pleasant experience for all passengers.
Arrival in Hong Kong
After a smooth, four-hour flight, we landed in Hong Kong on time. The deplaning process was efficient, and I quickly made my way to passport control. The transition from the aircraft to the airport was seamless, and I felt refreshed and ready for the next stage of my journey.
Final Thoughts
Korean Airlines’ 777-300ER business class provides an excellent flying experience, with spacious, comfortable seating, great service, and a solid selection of in-flight entertainment. Though the meal was not up to my expectations, the overall flight experience was still impressive, especially considering the short duration of the flight.
The Prestige Suite seat offers a high level of comfort, and the attentive service from the flight attendants made the journey a pleasant one. For anyone looking for a premium airline experience, Korean Airlines offers a strong product with plenty of potential for a memorable flight.
While it may not be perfect, particularly in terms of meal options, the comfort and service of Korean Airlines’ business class make it a highly competitive offering in the world of premium air travel.
