Activity Catalogue Tool

The Activity Catalogue Tool (ACT) offers a quick and real-time way to analyze sequences of observed activities. It tracks important metrics like how often an event happens, how long it lasts, the time between events, and the chances of moving from one activity to another. ACT also automatically generates a datalog file, which gives a detailed account of all observations. This file includes vital statistics about how events and activities occur together.

One of the key features of ACT is its ability to handle multiple observers or observations from a single video tape. This is possible through simple post-processing functions that allow users to merge or append datalog files easily.

ACT was developed by L. Segal and A. Andre, both experts in human factors and co-founders of Interface Analysis Associates (IAA). They created this tool for various applications, from analyzing pilot performance in cockpits to studying computer workstations and evaluating consumer products and graphical user interfaces.

Currently, ACT is utilized in over 250 sectors, including industries, research institutions, universities, and usability labs around the globe. Its versatility and efficiency make it a valuable asset in many fields.
