Civil Aviation Daily Occurrence Reporting System (Cadors)

The Civil Aviation Daily Occurrence Reporting System (CADORS) is Canada’s national reporting system for aviation safety data. It gathers information about operational events within the country’s civil air transportation framework. The primary goal of CADORS is to identify potential hazards and system shortcomings early on. According to the Canadian Aeronautics Act, holders of ATS certificates must report incidents outlined in the CADORS Manual. Most reports, about 80%, come from NAV CANADA, the main air navigation service provider. Other contributors include the Transportation Safety Board, airports, police, and the public.

CADORS covers a broad range of safety-related events. This includes irregularities in air traffic control operations, failures in communication, navigation, and surveillance systems, and violations of controlled airspace. It also captures occurrences linked to aircraft, aerodromes, security threats like bomb alerts or strikes, and environmental issues such as fuel spills. Since its launch in 1985, CADORS has amassed a database of over 300,000 reports as of 2023.
