Non Directional Beacon

A Non-Directional Beacon (NDB) is a type of radio beacon that operates in the Medium Frequency (MF) or Low Frequency (LF) bandwidths. These beacons send out signals that are equally strong in all directions. Each signal includes a coded element for station identification, typically consisting of 1 to 3 letters in Morse Code. NDBs play a key role in Non-Precision Approach procedures, aiding pilots during landing. Aircraft equipped with Automatic Direction Finding (ADF) systems utilize bearings from these beacons to navigate effectively.
