Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board (Stsb)

The Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board (STSB) is an independent commission that focuses on investigating incidents in aviation, public transport, and high seas navigation. This aligns with the country’s regulations on transportation safety investigations. According to the STSB’s website, the primary goal of these investigations is to enhance safety in transportation. This effort aims to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

Historically, the STSB was known as the Swiss Accident Investigation Board (SAIB). It underwent a name change on February 1, 2015, as part of a legal reform. The SAIB was established in November 2011 through the merger of two entities: the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) and the Investigation Bureau for Railway, Funicular, and Boat Accidents. This restructuring aimed to streamline safety investigations across different modes of transport.
