The EUROCONTROL Surveillance Modernisation activities, led by the Network Management Directorate, aim to improve the performance and efficiency of the European ATM Network’s surveillance systems. This includes various ground surveillance methods like Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B) and Wide Area Multilateration, as well as airborne applications such as ADS-B in and Airborne Traffic Situation Awareness (ATSAW). These initiatives support both immediate implementations and long-term SESAR projects. A key goal of these modernisation efforts is to ensure global interoperability across aviation systems. To achieve these objectives, close collaboration with aviation service providers, including Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs), is essential.
