Clearway

In the field of aviation, the term clearway refers to a specific area associated with some runways, often abbreviated as CWY. A clearway is defined as an unobstructed space beyond the paved runway, which remains under the control of airport authorities. This area plays a crucial role in takeoff operations. The length of the clearway can be factored into the total takeoff distance available (TODA). For instance, if a runway measures 2000 meters in length and there is an additional clearway of 400 meters extending beyond it, the total takeoff distance available increases to 2400 meters.
