Supercharger

A supercharger is a device that helps piston engines produce more power. It works by forcing more air into the engine, similar to a turbocharger. However, the main difference is that a supercharger is directly connected to the engine, while a turbocharger uses exhaust gases to spin its turbine.

In a regular piston engine, air enters the cylinder because of the pressure drop created when the piston moves down. The amount of air entering limits the engine’s power. This is where a supercharger comes in. It is an engine-driven device that powers a compressor. This compressor pulls in outside air, compresses it, and sends it into the engine. As a result, more air and fuel enter the cylinders during the intake stroke.

The extra air and fuel lead to a noticeable increase in the engine’s power compared to a standard version. Although running a supercharger requires a lot of engine power, the boost in performance it provides more than makes up for that loss.
