Automated External Defibrillator (Aed)

An Automated External Defibrillator, or AED, is a compact device designed to save lives during cardiac emergencies. When its electrodes are placed correctly on a patient, the AED can identify serious heart issues like ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia. Once it detects these conditions, the AED guides the operator with clear audio and visual prompts. This helps them make the right choices to deliver defibrillation, a process where an electrical shock is applied to the heart. This shock helps stop the irregular heartbeat, allowing the heart to regain a normal rhythm. You’ll often find AEDs in various locations, including aircraft as part of their emergency medical supplies.
