General Aviation Joint Steering Committee (Gajsc)

The General Aviation Joint Steering Committee (GAJSC) began its journey in 1997 as a key part of the Safer Skies Initiative, aimed at enhancing aviation safety. This partnership between public and private sectors was revitalized in 2011. Its main goal is to boost general aviation safety through data-driven efforts that focus on education, training, and the integration of new technologies in general aviation aircraft. The GAJSC closely examines aviation safety data to spot emerging issues and develop strategies to tackle these challenges effectively.

Participants in the GAJSC include the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) along with various industry stakeholders. These stakeholders comprise pilot organizations, flight instructors, mechanics, builders, and manufacturers. Key members are the FAA, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA), Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), National Air Transportation Association (NATA), Society of Aviation and Flight Educators (SAFE), and Light Aircraft Manufacturers Association (LAMA). Together, they work towards a safer future in general aviation.
