A Loading Instruction Form, or LIF, is a key document used in aviation. It details how an aircraft’s holds should be loaded. This form is filled out by the designated dispatcher or an equivalent agent. Once completed, it is given to the loading supervisor in charge of the operation. After the loading is done correctly, the signed LIF is returned to the dispatcher. This step is essential before the dispatcher can present the final load and trim sheet to the aircraft commander. In some cases, electronic confirmation of compliance can replace the physical form, and similar instructions can be communicated directly from the dispatcher to the loading supervisor.
