Rigid Rotor

A rigid rotor is a specific rotor system found in helicopters. Unlike other types, it closely resembles a standard propeller and is the least commonly used. In this system, helicopter blades are securely attached to the rotor hub without any hinges, while the hub is fixed to the rotor shaft. This design allows the blades to flex, giving them the ability to feather, but they cannot flap or lead. With a rigid rotor, the rotor head has to handle the forces generated during various flight maneuvers. Although control loads on this rotor head are quite high, this system offers superior control power to the helicopter during flight.
