Airborne Traffic Situation Awareness (ATSAW) is an innovative system designed to enhance situational awareness for pilots in commercial aviation. This system provides a real-time view of surrounding traffic throughout all flight phases. With ATSAW, crews can navigate to more efficient altitudes, especially when they are outside the range of ground surveillance. Additionally, ATSAW aids in maintaining visual separation during approaches and enhances traffic awareness on the airport surface. Developed from Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B), ATSAW is currently being tested by Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) alongside 25 Airbus and Boeing aircraft from various major international airlines.
