Singapore Airlines has confirmed plans to bring its Airbus A380 back to the important Singapore Changi Airport (SIN)–Dubai International Airport (DXB) route, although passengers will have to wait longer than originally expected. The carrier’s latest schedule indicates that the iconic double-decker aircraft is now planned to begin daily operations between Singapore and Dubai on March 28, 2027, subject to further adjustments.
The decision reflects the complicated operating environment surrounding long-haul aviation in the Middle East. Earlier plans for the A380 deployment were repeatedly postponed because of the ongoing regional instability, which affected airline schedules, passenger demand forecasts, and network planning. Singapore Airlines had initially expected to introduce the superjumbo on the route during the 2026 summer season, but those plans were later moved several times.
Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 Returns to Dubai Route
The planned A380 service represents a major change for Singapore Airlines’ Dubai operations. The airline previously expected to launch the aircraft on March 29, 2026, matching the beginning of the northern summer aviation season. However, the timeline was pushed back to May 2026 and later October 2026 before the latest adjustment placed the launch date in 2027.
According to updated industry scheduling data from Cirium Diio, Singapore Airlines intends to operate the 471-seat Airbus A380 once daily between Singapore and Dubai. The planned schedule for early April 2027 shows the aircraft departing Singapore at 2:40 PM and arriving in Dubai at 6:00 PM. The return flight is scheduled to leave Dubai at 7:45 PM and arrive in Singapore at 7:30 AM the following day.
If the plan proceeds, the service will become the first regular Singapore Airlines A380 operation to Dubai. Although the airline has used the aircraft on the route briefly in the past, it has not previously maintained a consistent A380 schedule between the two cities.
A Long History Between Singapore Airlines and Dubai
Singapore Airlines has served Dubai for decades, making the route an important part of its global network. Over the years, the airline has operated several aircraft types on the connection, including the Airbus A330-300, Airbus A350-900, Boeing 777-200ER, Boeing 777-300, and Boeing 777-300ER.
The carrier has also operated the A380 to Dubai on a temporary basis, including a short period in 2024.
