Type Certificate

A type certificate is an important document issued by the National Aviation Authority (NAA) of the aircraft’s operating country. It confirms that a specific aircraft type, model, engine, or propeller meets safety standards for airworthiness. In some regions, this certificate may be referred to as a type approval certificate, certificate of approval, or Fiche de Navigabilité. Typically, the initial type certificate is acquired in the country where the aircraft was manufactured. An essential part of any type certificate is the Type Certificate Data Sheet (TCDS), which provides detailed information about the aircraft’s categories and airworthiness.
