A Radio Mandatory Zone (RMZ) refers to a specific area of airspace where using radio equipment is required. This applies to VFR flights in certain parts of Classes E, F, or G airspace, as well as IFR flights in designated Class F or G areas. In these zones, pilots must maintain continuous communication with air traffic control and establish two-way contact on the designated frequency. Before entering an RMZ, pilots need to make an initial call. This call should include important details such as the name of the station being contacted, the aircraft’s call sign, type, current position, altitude, flight intentions, and any other information specified by the relevant authority. Following these procedures helps ensure safe and efficient operations within these airspaces.
