Etihad Airways and Condor have unveiled a bold strategic partnership set to reshape air connectivity between Germany and the Middle East. The new alliance, announced on December 5, establishes daily nonstop flights between Abu Dhabi and two major German cities — Frankfurt and Berlin — starting in the summer of 2026. This move reflects a growing emphasis on strengthening global aviation ties and enhancing passenger experiences across Europe, the Gulf, and beyond.
The cooperation introduces not just new routes but a deeper codeshare agreement, enabling seamless travel, coordinated scheduling, and mutual benefits for both airlines’ customers. Etihad, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, continues its expansion in Europe, while Condor, Germany’s renowned leisure airline, reclaims its place in long-haul Middle Eastern travel.
Strategic Route Expansion for Summer 2026
From May 1, 2026, Condor will commence daily Airbus A330 service from Frankfurt Airport (FRA) to Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH). Shortly thereafter, on June 15, 2026, Condor will launch another daily route from Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) to AUH, operated by an Airbus A320. These flights mark Condor’s return to the Middle East after years of concentrating on transatlantic leisure travel.
These additions are particularly significant for Berlin. Currently served by limited Gulf connections, the capital’s inclusion in Etihad’s growing network fulfills a long-standing gap in its intercontinental offerings. It also responds to Berlin’s burgeoning demand from tech startups, universities, diplomatic missions, and a resurging tourism sector.

A Seamless Experience Through Codeshare Synergy
Under the codeshare agreement, all new Condor-operated flights will also carry Etihad flight numbers, ensuring joint marketing and operational harmony. In turn, Etihad will place its code on selected Condor-operated European routes, granting travelers unprecedented network flexibility.
The partnership brings the following key advantages:
- One-stop booking through either airline
- Through-checked baggage across itineraries
- Smooth transfers at Abu Dhabi hub
- Loyalty benefits via Etihad Guest miles for Condor flights
Passengers from Germany will gain easy access to Etihad’s vast network across Asia, Africa, and Australia, opening travel possibilities to destinations such as Bangkok, Johannesburg, Singapore, the Maldives, and Sydney.

Condor’s Bold Pivot Into Long-Haul Expansion
This agreement marks a significant milestone for Condor, whose fleet modernization and route diversification strategy have taken center stage in recent years. With a renewed focus beyond the US and Caribbean, Condor is embracing intercontinental expansion, leveraging Abu Dhabi as a launchpad into the Eastern Hemisphere. The deployment of the Airbus A330neo on long-haul sectors like FRA–AUH underscores this pivot toward greater capacity and enhanced passenger comfort.
The partnership aligns with Condor’s vision to grow relevance in the global aviation landscape by associating with a full-service carrier like Etihad — known for its high standards, modern fleet, and extensive global reach.
Etihad’s Strengthened Position in Germany
Germany has always played a central role in Etihad’s European strategy. The airline already serves Frankfurt and Munich, and now with Berlin’s inclusion, Etihad covers three of Germany’s most significant cities. This tri-city presence enhances bilateral travel and economic ties between the UAE and Germany.
For Frankfurt Airport, the new route adds capacity to the Middle East, offering more choice for business and leisure travelers alike. Meanwhile, Berlin Brandenburg Airport reaps the benefits of renewed Gulf connectivity, boosting its long-haul credentials after a challenging few years post-pandemic.

Loyalty and Booking Integration
As part of the agreement, Etihad Guest members can earn and redeem miles on Condor-operated flights to and from Abu Dhabi. This adds considerable value for frequent flyers and elevates Condor’s appeal among premium and loyalty-conscious travelers.
Tickets are already on sale across both airlines’ websites and global travel agents, enabling early planning for the 2026 summer season. Germany continues to rank among the top inbound tourism markets for the UAE, and these new flights are expected to further boost tourism, business travel, and cultural exchanges.
A Partnership with Future Potential
The launch of these routes and the solid framework of the codeshare agreement suggest room for deeper collaboration between the two carriers. Future expansions could include additional destinations, more optimized flight schedules, and collaborative marketing efforts.
Given the modern fleet on both sides — including Etihad’s Boeing 787s and Airbus A350s and Condor’s A330neo family — travelers can expect state-of-the-art cabin experiences. Together, Etihad and Condor are poised to set a new benchmark for cross-continental cooperation, shaping the future of air travel between Europe and the Middle East.
