The FAA R & D Human Factors Laboratory (RDHFL) is a cutting-edge facility dedicated to studying Human Factors in aviation. Its main goal is to enhance our understanding of human performance and improve the design of systems that integrate people with technology. One of the standout features of the RDHFL is its Virtual Reality (VR) capability. This allows researchers to engage with three-dimensional, computer-generated models of concepts and designs, making complex ideas easier to visualize. Located at the FAA’s William J. Hughes Technical Center, the laboratory spans around 10,000 square feet. It includes four experiment rooms that can be utilized independently or in combination for various research activities. Additionally, the RDHFL collaborates with other government labs, including the NASA Ames Research Center, to further advance aviation research.
