Nits Briefing

The NITS briefing is a helpful tool used to guide individuals, particularly aircraft captains and cabin crew, during high-stress situations like emergencies. It stands for Nature, Intention, Time, and Special Instructions.

Nature refers to identifying the specific problem or emergency at hand. Next, Intention outlines what the captain plans to do in response to the situation. Time indicates how long it will take to address the issue or how much time is available for preparations, such as making an emergency landing. Finally, Special Instructions cover any additional information that the briefing recipient should be aware of.

To ensure clarity, the person receiving the briefing typically repeats the information back to the briefer. This process helps confirm that everyone is on the same page and fully understands the situation.
