An Emergency and Abnormal Checklist (EAC) serves as a vital handbook for pilots, outlining essential actions during unexpected situations. This checklist mirrors the contents of the Operations Manual (OM), ensuring consistency and reliability in emergency protocols. While the format may be adjusted for easier reference, the core procedures must align with the Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM).
The EAC features two primary types of checklists: Emergency Checklists and Abnormal Checklists. Within these, certain emergency checklists will highlight Memory Items, which are crucial actions that pilots should remember. In some cases, an entire checklist may consist solely of these memory items, emphasizing their importance.
It’s worth noting that the term EAC is frequently used interchangeably with the Quick Reference Handbook (QRH). For effective use in a multi-crew cockpit, two copies of the EAC are necessary, ensuring both pilots have immediate access to this critical information.
