Allegiant Air's Massive Expansion: 15 New Florida Routes Revealed for 2026–2027

Allegiant Air is preparing for a major expansion across Florida, with 15 new routes scheduled to connect the Sunshine State with cities across the United States. The move reinforces the carrier’s long-standing strategy of linking smaller and mid-sized communities with popular leisure destinations, particularly during periods when travelers are eager to escape colder weather.

The expansion covers 16 airports and 16,692 network miles, creating a substantial increase in Allegiant’s seasonal and year-round connectivity. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) is the biggest beneficiary, accounting for six of the 15 new routes. Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) and St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) will each gain three new connections, while Punta Gorda and Orlando International will also receive additional service.

For travelers, the attraction is straightforward. Allegiant’s business model is built around affordable nonstop flights to leisure destinations, allowing passengers from smaller cities to bypass traditional connecting hubs. Florida remains one of the strongest markets for this strategy, and the carrier’s latest additions show how aggressively it is targeting demand for winter sunshine, beaches, and convenient point-to-point travel.

Orlando Sanford Adds Three New Allegiant Routes

Orlando Sanford International Airport is set to become an important part of the expansion, gaining new Allegiant service to Boston, Providence, and Trenton. The additions strengthen Sanford’s position as an alternative to the much larger Orlando International Airport, particularly for passengers who value lower fares and straightforward access to Central Florida’s attractions.

The Trenton route is especially seasonal. According to the schedule data cited in the reference material, Allegiant plans to operate the service from October through February, matching the period when demand for Florida vacations typically rises. The route will use a mixture of Airbus A319s, A320s, and Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 aircraft, giving the airline flexibility as demand changes throughout the season.

Boston will also gain another Florida option, although travelers will need to wait until February 13 for the new Sanford service to begin. Providence adds another New England connection, giving Allegiant additional access to a region where winter travelers can have strong incentives to head south.

St. Petersburg Gains Boston, Columbia and Philadelphia

St. Petersburg is receiving three new routes of its own, expanding Allegiant’s network toward Boston, Columbia, and Philadelphia. The Philadelphia service is scheduled to begin in October, while Columbia will follow in November. Boston service to St. Petersburg is scheduled to start on February 13.

The airline plans to rely primarily on its Airbus A319 and A320 fleet for these services. These aircraft are well suited to Allegiant’s point-to-point model because they provide enough capacity for leisure markets without requiring the enormous passenger volumes associated with major hub operations.

Allegiant has described the expansion as part of its effort to provide more options between smaller and mid-sized cities and popular vacation destinations. Its emphasis on hyper-seasonal availability is particularly important because the airline does not need every route to operate throughout the year to make the network commercially useful.

Fort Lauderdale Leads the Florida Expansion

The most significant development is happening at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Allegiant will introduce six new routes from Fort Lauderdale, making the airport the clear centerpiece of its Florida growth.

Four of these routes will begin in October, connecting Fort Lauderdale with Boston, Kansas City, Omaha, and Pittsburgh. The carrier plans to operate all four using the high-density Boeing 737 MAX 8-200, an aircraft that gives Allegiant substantial seating capacity while supporting its low-cost operating strategy.

The seasonal structure is notable. Boston, Kansas City, Omaha, and Pittsburgh service will run from October through February, concentrating flying during a period when Florida’s warm climate becomes especially attractive to travelers from colder parts of the country.

Frequency will vary by market. Kansas City and Omaha will receive two weekly flights, while Boston and Pittsburgh will reach as many as three flights per week. Rather than spreading aircraft thinly across the entire calendar, Allegiant is concentrating capacity when leisure demand is most likely to be strongest.

Two More Fort Lauderdale Routes Arrive in 2027

The end of the first seasonal wave will immediately lead into another. Beginning in February 2027, Allegiant will add Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and Providence, Rhode Island to its Fort Lauderdale network.

The Portsmouth service is scheduled from February 20 through May 1, while Providence will operate from February 13 through April 24. These dates demonstrate how Allegiant is using carefully targeted seasonal windows rather than treating every route as a permanent year-round operation.

This approach can be particularly valuable for travelers planning winter and early-spring vacations. It also allows Allegiant to experiment with markets and adjust capacity according to booking performance without committing aircraft to routes during weaker periods.

Punta Gorda and Orlando Complete the Network

Punta Gorda International Airport will receive two additional routes. Allegiant is introducing service to Boston Logan International Airport from February 13 through April 24, while a second route will connect Punta Gorda with La Crosse from October through February.

These additions fit neatly into Punta Gorda’s role as another Florida airport focused heavily on leisure travelers. The airport gives Allegiant an opportunity to serve Southwest Florida without relying exclusively on larger metropolitan gateways.

Meanwhile, Orlando International Airport will receive a new year-round route to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. The service is scheduled to begin on February 12, 2027, giving passengers another nonstop option between Central Florida and the Cincinnati region.

Allegiant is already trying to stimulate demand for the new service, advertising introductory one-way fares as low as $49. The low entry price is consistent with the airline’s strategy of attracting price-sensitive leisure travelers and building demand around nonstop convenience.

What Allegiant’s 15 New Routes Mean

Taken together, these additions reveal a clear strategy rather than a random collection of destinations. Allegiant is expanding where its leisure-focused, low-cost model makes the most sense, using Florida’s strong seasonal demand to connect communities that may not have extensive nonstop options.

The network also demonstrates the importance of secondary airports. Sanford, St. Petersburg, Punta Gorda, and Fort Lauderdale can offer travelers alternatives to larger, more congested gateways while giving Allegiant opportunities to operate routes with a focused seasonal schedule.

With 15 new Florida routes, Allegiant is making one thing clear: Florida remains central to its growth strategy. From New England and the Midwest to Pennsylvania and the Southeast, the carrier is building a wider web of affordable nonstop flights designed around the simple appeal of getting travelers from colder cities to Florida’s sunshine with fewer complications.
