Hawaiian Airlines has officially unveiled a special Airbus A330-200 livery celebrating one of the most significant milestones in its nearly century-long history—its entry into the oneworld alliance. The aircraft, painted with the inspiring Hawaiian phrase “Aloha a puni ka honua” (“Aloha all around the world”), symbolizes the carrier’s expanding global reach while preserving the unique cultural identity that has defined the airline for generations.
As Hawaiian Airlines continues integrating into the world’s leading airline alliance, the commemorative aircraft represents far more than a fresh paint scheme. It embodies the airline’s ambition to connect the Hawaiian Islands with travelers across hundreds of international destinations while proudly showcasing the spirit of aloha.
Hawaiian Airlines Unveils a Symbolic oneworld Airbus A330
The aircraft was officially introduced during a special ceremony at Hawaiian Airlines’ Charles I. Elliott Maintenance and Cargo Facility in Honolulu on June 30. The celebration marked another important chapter following the airline’s formal admission into the oneworld alliance earlier this year—the first alliance membership in the company’s impressive 96-year history.
Unlike many alliance liveries that largely replace an airline’s traditional branding, Hawaiian Airlines carefully preserved its iconic visual identity. The aircraft continues to display the beloved Pualani portrait on the tail, accompanied by the elegant maile lei flowing across the fuselage.
The most eye-catching additions are the oversized oneworld logo and the Hawaiian-language phrase “Aloha a puni ka honua,” elegantly positioned beneath it. Together, these elements communicate Hawaiian Airlines’ commitment to sharing Hawaii’s welcoming culture with travelers around the globe rather than simply advertising alliance membership.

A Global Alliance Built Around Hawaiian Identity
Rather than diluting its brand, Hawaiian Airlines has used its oneworld membership to strengthen its cultural identity on an international stage.
According to the airline, the phrase “Aloha all around the world” reflects how alliance membership dramatically expands travel opportunities. Passengers now gain access to nearly 1,000 destinations across more than 170 countries and territories, transforming Hawaiian Airlines from a respected Pacific carrier into an airline connected to one of aviation’s largest global networks.
The airline joins fellow U.S. members American Airlines and Alaska Airlines, strengthening oneworld’s presence across the Pacific Ocean. Combined with the recent addition of Fiji Airways and the future inclusion of Philippine Airlines, the alliance significantly improves connectivity throughout Oceania and Asia-Pacific.
Hawaiian Airlines emphasized that while its network is expanding internationally, its mission remains rooted in sharing Hawaiian hospitality, language, traditions, and culture with every customer regardless of destination.
Celebrating Hawaiian Culture Beyond Aviation
The aircraft unveiling was also an opportunity to celebrate Hawaii’s cultural heritage.
As part of the ceremony, Hawaiian Airlines announced $10,000 donations to both ʻIolani Palace and the Polynesian Voyaging Society, two organizations dedicated to preserving Hawaiian history, language, navigation traditions, and cultural education.
Company executives described the new aircraft as a flying ambassador for Hawaii, carrying not only passengers but also the values and traditions that define the islands.
This approach reflects Hawaiian Airlines’ long-standing strategy of integrating local culture into every aspect of the passenger experience—from onboard cuisine and cabin announcements to aircraft artwork and branding.

The Airbus A330 Remains the Backbone of Hawaiian’s Long-Haul Fleet
The commemorative aircraft is registered N375HA, one of 24 Airbus A330-200s currently operated by Hawaiian Airlines.
Delivered in February 2015, the aircraft remains relatively young and has spent its entire operational life flying exclusively for Hawaiian Airlines. Configured with seating for up to 278 passengers across two cabin classes, the A330 serves both domestic routes and long-haul international services throughout the Pacific.
Today, the Airbus A330 occupies an even more important role within Hawaiian’s fleet following the transfer of the airline’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to Alaska Airlines after the companies combined operations.
Those Dreamliners have since received Alaska Airlines’ distinctive “Global” Northern Lights-inspired livery, leaving the Airbus A330 as Hawaiian Airlines’ only remaining passenger widebody aircraft family.
Meanwhile, Hawaiian also operates ten Airbus A330-300 freighters, although these aircraft fly exclusively for Amazon Prime Air under dedicated cargo agreements.
A $600 Million Investment Is Transforming the Passenger Experience
Hawaiian Airlines is pairing its new alliance membership with a major fleet modernization initiative.
Through its Kahuʻewai Hawaiʻi Investment Plan, valued at more than $600 million over five years, the airline intends to substantially upgrade the passenger experience aboard its Airbus A330 fleet.
The improvements include introducing the airline’s first Premium Economy recliner seats, replacing the current 2-2-2 Business Class configuration with modern 1-2-1 suites offering direct aisle access for every passenger, enhancing cabin interiors, and delivering updated amenities designed to compete more effectively on long-haul international routes.
These investments demonstrate that Hawaiian Airlines is preparing not only for increased alliance traffic but also for stronger competition across Asia-Pacific markets.

oneworld Membership Opens a New Era for Hawaiian Airlines
Joining oneworld provides immediate benefits for both Hawaiian Airlines and its passengers. Travelers now enjoy expanded global connectivity, coordinated schedules, reciprocal frequent flyer benefits, premium lounge access, and smoother international itineraries through alliance partners.
For oneworld, Hawaiian Airlines fills an important geographic gap by strengthening connections across the Pacific while enhancing access to the Hawaiian Islands from virtually every continent.
With its 100th anniversary approaching later this decade, Hawaiian Airlines is combining international expansion with significant investments in customer experience. Among its future projects is a new flagship lounge at Honolulu Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, expected to open in Terminal 1 by the end of 2027.
The specially painted Airbus A330 perfectly captures this moment of transformation. While proudly embracing one of the aviation industry’s most influential alliances, Hawaiian Airlines continues placing Hawaii’s culture, hospitality, and unmistakable spirit of aloha at the center of every journey, ensuring that even as its network stretches across the globe, its identity remains unmistakably Hawaiian.
