Special Vfr

Special VFR refers to a specific subset of Visual Flight Rules (VFR) flying. It allows pilots to operate within a Control Zone even when weather conditions fall below the standard Visual Meteorological Conditions (VMC) minima. To fly under Special VFR, a pilot must obtain permission through an Air Traffic Control (ATC) clearance. This type of traffic is also categorized as Controlled VFR. The definition and guidelines for Special VFR are outlined in ICAO Annex 2.
