Airlines for Europe (A4E) is a trade association representing European airlines. It was established in January 2016 by five of Europe’s largest carriers: International Airlines Group (IAG), Air France – KLM, EasyJet, Lufthansa, and Ryanair. This marked the first time a trade association included both full-service and low-cost airlines. A4E was formed as a response to concerns about the effectiveness of the previous major European airline association, the Association of European Airlines (AEA). By early 2018, the association had grown to 15 members. A4E aims to enhance the competitiveness of the EU aviation sector by focusing on several key areas. These include lowering costs at EU airports, ensuring reliable and efficient airspace, and eliminating unreasonable taxes.
