Bypass Ratio

In a turbofan engine, the bypass ratio is an important concept. It compares the amount of air that flows through the fan to the amount that passes through the engine core. For example, if an engine has a bypass ratio of 10:1, this means that for every 11 units of air entering the engine, 10 units will bypass the core, while only 1 unit will go through it. This design helps improve efficiency and reduce noise, making turbofan engines popular in commercial aviation.
