Cast Icao Common Taxonomy Team (Cictt)

The CAST/ICAO Common Taxonomy Team, known as CICTT, was formed in 1999. This initiative was created by the U.S. Commercial Aviation Safety Team (CAST) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Its main goal is to establish and promote a shared vocabulary for defining aviation safety events. By doing so, CICTT aims to eliminate barriers to analyzing and sharing aviation safety information. As new technologies and aircraft emerge, they often present safety risks that current classifications do not address. Without standardized event descriptors, aviation organizations may face challenges with data quality and usage, which can reduce the overall effectiveness of safety information.
