Archer has already made strides by confirming its plans to launch the Midnight aircraft in the UAE in partnership with Abu Dhabi Aviation and in Ethiopia with Ethiopian Airlines. Indonesia now joins this prestigious list, indicating a robust commitment to fostering local aviation capabilities.
As part of the initial deployment strategy, Archer plans to introduce a fleet of Midnight aircraft to Indonesia, supported by a dedicated team of pilots, engineers, and technicians. This team will ensure smooth operations while providing essential backend operational software and front-end booking applications. The objective extends beyond merely establishing air taxi services; Archer envisions utilizing its aircraft for a variety of applications, including logistics and environmental surveillance. These complementary services are expected to play a pivotal role in supporting the development of Indonesia’s new capital city, Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN).
The government’s ambitious initiative to establish a new capital is in harmony with Archer’s vision of enhancing urban mobility and promoting sustainable technologies in rapidly developing regions. To secure the success of this endeavor, Archer and PT. IKN are committed to collaborating closely with Indonesia’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Furthermore, Major General TNI Piek Budyakto Pangdam IX / Udayana emphasized the dual-use capabilities of eVTOL aircraft like Archer’s Midnight. He noted, “In the civilian sector, these aircraft can potentially be used for transportation, rescue, and various other purposes such as delivery of goods and air taxi transport. On the military side, they can potentially be utilized for medical evacuation, delivery of supplies, and special operations in difficult-to-reach areas. The partnership between Archer and PT. IKN aligns with our vision to develop a more adaptive and modern military infrastructure that embraces innovative technologies.”
